New Illinois Deer Hunting Regulations

Many hunters are concerned about a change in the Illinois 2005-2006 deer hunting regulations. Instead of taking harvested deer to a game checking station for inspection by an authorized representative of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, hunters in most counties will be allowed to register their deer through the DNR website or by telephone. Long waits for inspection were a problem at many checking stations in the past and the inspection process created staffing problems for DNR. Many hunters believe that this lack of inspection will lead to poaching and other problems.
